The Bake Dept is excited to participate in
#bakersagainstracism
Virtual Bake Sales!
We bake, you buy, we donate!
_____________________________________________________________________
So, standing in my kitchen the other day baking, it hit hard that I'm standing here in my kitchen baking while others are scrambling, scared, hungry, and facing uncertainties and atrocities I can't imagine.
Let's help. Here's how:
Donate to any Ukrainian aid fund/organization of your choosing, any, then send a screenshot or copy of your donation receipt to me by clicking here.
For every $5 you donate, you receive one entry into a raffle for me to bake you anything from my site, any one recipe of your choosing.
If you're not in the Chicago area, no problem. Same process and if you win, I will send you a gift certificate for something from your local bakery.
Deadline and winner will be drawn on March 21, 2022.
Here are some suggestions from other #bakeforukraine and #bakersagainstracism Instagram posts but like I said, any site that is aiding people and/or pets in Ukraine are thumbs up with me:
World Central Kitchen is providing meals to Ukrainians in need.
Sunflower of Peace is a nonprofit preparing medical tactical backpacks for paramedics and doctors.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is providing emergency assistance such as cash assistance and resettlement opportunities in the US to Ukranians.
Click here to donate to Save the Children
Humane Society International or any animal rescue or shelter in Ukraine or organization that is sending aid for animals in need

Let's feed people!
I realize this isn't exactly following #bakersagainstracism but I have volunteered to bake items for drop off on November 24. Not sure what I'm baking or how much I'm baking but I am baking and you can help.
Now, you can donate directly to West Town Feeds if you'd like, but I thought let's up the ante -- for every $10 you send to me which will in turn be donated in full directly to West Town Feeds for Thanksgiving meals, I will bake one extra treat and make sure your name is attached to it when dropped off. Follow me on Instagram where I'll share photos of what was baked.
I realize this equates to no baked goodies for you to take home for yourself but I'm hoping to do a December holiday sale so stay tuned!
Lots to figure out in a short period of time but hey, let's do this!
Click this yellow text to send an email to Becky to receive directions on how to donate! If you don’t receive the auto reply email, please check your spam box.

The below Bake Sale has ended.
Thanks to those who bought and donated!
Together we raised $130 for Brave Space Alliance!
So for posterity, here's the sale:
Ok peeps, it's time for The Bake Dept's inaugural Virtual Bake Sale, woot!
Sorry, not the whole pie, guys, just the ice cream! |
Pints will be $12 each with the entirety of the cash going to the
organization. This time I'm mixing Pride Month (Happy Pride Month!) into
the cause and have chosen
Brave Space Alliance.
About Brave Space Alliance, from their website: "BSA is a
vehicle to empower and elevate queer and trans voices, particularly those
belonging to people of color, to allow our communities a seat at the table on
key decision making processes that impact the community of Chicago."
Ordering Details:
This is a prepaid purchase through Venmo or PayPal only; no cash
will be accepted and pints are filled to order meaning, unfortunately, no ice
cream will be available for purchase at the pick-up time and location. As a
bonus, you'll receive a print out of the recipe with your purchase as well,
cool!
Click this yellow text to send an email to Becky
to receive directions on how to buy, donate, and pick up.
Note that you will receive an auto-reply message with instructions; if you
do not receive this email, please check your spam box
and if for some gosh darn reason it's still not there, please contact me again
or through
the contact section.
If you're not in the area to pick up, you are more than
welcome to donate!
Becky will start taking pre-orders on June 19,
2021 and stop taking pre-orders and payments on June 24, 2021 at 5 pm central
time.
Help a girl out and order as early as possible -- I only have one little ice cream machine!
Donations will be accepted now through the day of pick-up, June 26, 2021.
"Becky," you ask, "what else can I do?"
